Slate Breaker: FD NFL DFS Playoffs (Conference)
Quarterbacks
Play of the Day: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (@ Ravens)
How is the only QB who has any real playoff success, the 2nd cheapest option? Sure the Ravens are a tough matchup, but so are the Chiefs and 49ers so Lamar Jackson and Jared Goff similarly have limited upsides. Brock Purdy does by far have the best matchup, but I still do not trust the inexperienced QB who struggled against the lesser Packers defense last week. Mahomes is by far the top choice on this limited slate so to be able to get him for just $7,500 is a terrific value. Brock Purdy is the only other QB who offers anywhere close to the same floor and upside that Mahomes provides, but he comes with way more risk. Mahomes will likely be the top owned QB this week, but that is for good reason.
Running Backs
Play of the Day: Christian McCaffrey, 49ers (vs Lions)
How much really needs to be said about CMC? All he does is produce and you are getting a high end QB in your RB slot. There is absolutely no reason to not have him in your lineup sure there are other solid RBs on this slate like Jahmyr Gibbs and Isiah Pacheco but both of those guy have their issues with Gibbs sharing time with Montgomery and Pacheco dealing with an injury while having to take more of a back seat in this offense. I would not be surprised to see CMC's ownership over 90% so you will need him in your lineups.
Justice Hill, Ravens (vs Chiefs)
The Ravens brought in Dalvin Cook because they were not satisfied with their RBs' play and after one week of Cook being implemented, it is obvious that Gus Edwards is the guy they are losing faith in. He had just 23 snaps which was just 34% of the total offensive snaps, while it was Justice Hill who stepped up as the new lead back for the team. Hill saw his 3rd highest snap share of the season which also led to a team high 15 opportunities. Hill is a dynamic back who can contribute as both a runner and pass catcher so an increase in usage will lead to good things for fantasy owners and he is one of the top values with a price tag of just $5,500.
Wide Receivers
Play of the Day: Rashee Rice, Chiefs (@ Ravens)
While Travis Kelce ended up with the dominant fantasy day last week, he still had just 75 yards and has not pushed for 100 yards in months now so he will need a TD or 2 to be worth your time and that lack of consistent yardage production is a result of the emergence of rookie WR Rashee Rice. Rice has not had any issues racking up yardage with at least 90 yards in half of his last 8 games. The Chiefs will have to pass to compete in this game so expect Rice to carry a heavy load as the team's new top target.
Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers (vs Lions)
The Lions have one obvious weakness and that is their ability to defend the pass so all the 49ers pass catchers are great plays this week. Aiyuk stands out since he is a great deep ball receiver and the Lions have been terrible against the deep ball all year long so even though he has not been great this postseason expect him to get back on track this week.
Tight Ends
Play of the Day: George Kittle, 49ers (vs Lions)
With Purdy once again finding himself in a high pressure environment expect him to be constantly looking at his favorite target. Kittle is my favorite Play of the Day when it comes to the skill players since he will be called upon as a major piece of the slate's top offense in a great matchup. I just do not see how Kittle could disappoint you with a price of just $6,600. I do like just about every starting TE on this slate though so I like loading up on the position by also playing a TE in your flex position. Mark Andrews is also a great play at just $5,700, but he does concern me due to the uncertainty surrounding his playing time. If I knew that Andrews would play his usual full workload, he would be a must play but with no real certainty surrounding his playing time, Andrews has the ability to make or break your lineup this week.
Defense
Play of the Day: 49ers D/ST (vs Lions)
I think that the Ravens and Chiefs offenses should be able to produce in their tough matchups, but I am not as optimistic about the Lions chances. The Lions are a team filled with talent but they do lack any real experience. Of course their QB Jared Goff has made it to a Super Bowl before but that was on a far more talented and experienced Rams team and Goff is not a good enough playmaker to take a team to those heights on his own. The 49ers D is as safe of a play as you will find on a slate full of talented offenses.
