Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Bowl Season (1/1)

Quarterbacks

Play of the Day: Quinn Ewers, Texas (vs Washington)

Washington is not in the playoff because of their defense, it has been their offense carrying the load and their defense has been struggling to keep up. They have gotten worse as the season has gone on while the Texas offense has only gotten better since Ewers returned from injury. Texas is averaging 40 points since his return and Ewers is throwing for 312 yards and 2 TDs per game since his return. I think this Texas offense will dominate the Washington defense so I will be loading up on their weapons and it starts with Ewer.

Bo Nix, Oregon (vs Liberty)

Liberty has had a magical season but it will come to an unfortunate end this week. Oregon and Nix is a playoff caliber team and for how good Liberty has been, they will simply be outmatched this week. As Nix's final game of his prolific career, this game will mean a lot to him so you know he will give it his all and play as long as the coaches let him. Liberty is also far worse against the pass than they are against the run so Nix should be able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants against this inferior opponent.

Michael Penix, Washington (vs Texas)

The Texas D line will dominate the Washington O line so the only shot that Washington has in this game is to pass the ball because the run will get stuffed every time. While I do expect Penix to struggle against the Texas pass rush, he still is a good enough QB to get the ball out of his hand quick enough to find his star WRs. On a full slate, I would never fully condone Penix as a play; but with limited options, Penix does have the potential to be one of the top scoring QBs.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama (vs Michigan)

This Alabama Michigan game is going to be a defensive struggle, but Milroe occupies a large enough part of this offense that he should still produce a decent fantasy line. He has already faced some of the nation's toughest defenses like Texas and Georgia so the matchup does not scare me too much. Milroe has a floor of 15 FDP, but his ceiling is way higher especially if he is able to find the endzone with his feet.

Running Backs

Play of the Day: Jackson Acker, Wisconsin (vs LSU)

No matchup was better for fantasy RBs than USC this season, but LSU was not too far behind in a close second. LSU has allowed 6 RBs to rush for 100 yards or score 13 FDP over their last 5 games on their way to allowing the 2nd most rushing yards in the SEC. Wisconsin will always be a run first program no matter how hard they try to move away from it so as the lead back, Acker is a solid play regardless of matchup, but with a juicy matchup like this he is a must play.

Blake Corum, Michigan (vs Alabama)

If Michigan is going to produce against Alabama it will be by keeping the ball in Corum's hands as much as possible. I would not be surprised if he ended up getting way more than 30 carries this week. He may average less than 3 yards per carry but with the amount of work he is about to get, he will likely still produce over 100 yards on the ground and at least 1 score. Michigan is a safe play with elite upside if this Michigan line can open some holes.

Texas RBs (vs Washington)

This Texas offense is going to be productive so basically every major contributor is a real option. The Texas backfield has been a committee since Jonathan Brooks went down with injury. The RBBC is led by CJ Baxter and Jaydon Blue with Baxter being dubbed the starter so his price is a bit higher. Even though Baxter's price is higher, Blue has been the more productive back. Blue has been averaging almost one yard more than Baxter per touch with Blue picking up 7.1 yards compared to Baxter's 6.2. One of these backs will have a great day, but due to the committee approach it will be hard to nail down who. I lean Blue over Baxter but I cannot blame you if you go with Baxter.

Logan Diggs, LSU (vs Wisconsin)

The LSU running game will be a huge part of the LSU offense with Nussmeier at QB. I do not expect Diggs to carry the whole load, but he will handle a good chunk of it and he has been very productive. When Diggs has gotten at least 10 touches in a game, he has averaged a robust 18.1 FDP. Wisconsin is fairly good against the run, but Diggs and this LSU running game should still be able to find some room. Diggs is very cheap and can fit in most lineups, making him a great complimentary piece if you spend up elsewhere.

Wide Receivers

Play of the Day: Jalen McMillan, Washington (vs Texas)

With Washington likely outmatched at the line of scrimmage, McMillan will be a crucial part of this Washington passing attack. Penix will not have the time to allow the deep passes to develop, but that is mostly Rome Odunze's territory. McMillan is the WR they love to move around the formation and get into open space which will likely be Washington's most effective strategy against this pass rush. I am not too optimistic about this Washington offense as a whole, but I could not be more confident in McMillan's prospects.

LSU WRs (vs Wisconsin)

All these LSU WRs are priced like they are playing with Jayden Daniels, but Nussmeier just is not Daniels. I am including them here to highlight that they are not the best value and are likely better fades than plays since they will need monster games to deliver on their lofty price tags.

Tez Johnson, Oregon (vs Liberty)

Johnson was already taking on a bigger and bigger role in this offense, but he is about to become the man. In Bo Nix's final game, expect him to rely on his brother and feature him as a lead WR with Troy Franklin out. This guy could end up with 20 targets if this game turns out to be competitive, but he is going to produce regardless of what the score is. Johnson is a must play as the top playmaker in one of the top offenses on this slate.

Texas WRs (vs Washington)

You should have already known these boys would be here as well. Strong cases can be made for both Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, but it is Worthy who really stands out to me. He can run every route in the book and Texas loves utilizing him near the line of scrimmage in short yardage scenarios which could lead to a score. Mitchell does have a greater chance to score since he has a bigger frame and is looked to in the endzone, but Worthy will definitely end up with more yards. Ja'Tavion Sanders is also being used more and more but he still does not have a reliable floor so he is nothing more than a gamble.

Jermaine Burton, Alabama (vs Michigan)

This is all about his big play abilities. I do not expect him to have 8 catches for 100 yards, but he does not need to do that to deliver rosterable value. Burton is the vertical threat for Alabama and he is very good at it. He is averaging over 22 yards per catch and if the deep ball connects he is great at finishing the job and finding the endzone with a TD on 23% of his catches. Burton does not have a floor, but he does only need one play to make his day so he is worth the gamble.

Roman Wilson, Michigan (vs Alabama)

After beginning the season on fire, Wilson has become more of a tertiary option in this offense as the season has gone on. The main reason for this is that Michigan has not needed him as they have been playing ball control for most of the game and have lost some faith in JJ McCarthy as a QB so Wilson has not even gotten a chance to produce. If Alabama is able to score some points and stop Michigan's rushing attack then Wilson may become the focal point of this offense. Wilson has shown he can handle the leading role when he averaged 18 FDP over his first 5 games. If Michigan dominates this game, Wilson likely will not be a great fantasy option; but if this turns into a very competitive game, Wilson could be a real difference maker for fantasy players.
