Central Michigan vs Ohio

This seems like a fairly easy slate to attack and it starts with this Central Michigan Ohio game. The Central Michigan offense has been running through 2 guys primarily. RB Marion Lukes seemed like his time as a workhorse back was coming to an end last week when backfield mate Myles Bailey returned to action, but Bailey reaggrevated his injury on his first carry of the game and made Lukes the workhorse back. Lukes' production as the workhorse back has been elite producing at least 18.5 pts in every game. As long Myles Bailey is out, Lukes is a must play. QB Jase Bauer has been the other guy driving this offense. He has showed prowess as both a passer and a runner lately passing for a TD in 3 straight games and scoring 12+ FD points with his legs alone in 2 of his last 4 games. Ohio is the toughest defense in the conference so Bauer is a less appealing option this week especially at a slate high price, but he will likely still score 10+ pts. There is no obvious WR1 for this team, but Jesse Prewitt, Tyson Davis and Chris Parker are basically the only guys who get regular targets so any one of them can have a solid game, but it has been Tyson Davis who has been the most productive lately. For Ohio, it all boils down to 4 main guys. Let's start with RB Sieh Bangura. After an impressive year last year, Bangura has been trapped in a timeshare for most of the year but he finally seems like he is breaking out of it with Bangura handling more than 80% of the team's RB work last week. Bangura is a must play as he takes on a Central Michigan team who continues to get roasted by opposing RBs allowing 20+ FD points to opposing backs in 3 straight games. The reigned MAC player of the year, Kurtis Rourke, is having a down year but should still be a solid play in this game. While Central Michigan struggles against the run, they also are not great in pass defense allowing 20+ FD points to opposing QBs in each of their last 3 games so Rourke should be able to top 15 FD points in this one. The only Ohio pass catchers who matter for fantasy purposes are Sam Wiglusz and Miles Cross. Wiglusz came in as the obvious WR1, but as the season has gone on, Cross has taken over that role and is now clearly the more desirable fantasy option. If you want a safe play who will win you some cash, Cross is your guy, but if you want to take a risk that could potentially win you a tournament, then roll with Wiglusz.

Buffalo vs Miami (Ohio)

The fantasy production in this game is even further consolidated than the previous game, For Miami, I am basically only interested in their running game. With Aveon Smith taking over as the QB, this team basically only runs the ball and with Miami expected to win, expect them to ride that run game the whole way. Even with Smith's lack of passing, he is still heavily involved as a runner having just 2 fewer carries than pass attempts so he is a good play based off of his running alone. He succeeded against this same Buffalo team last year when he rushed for 142 yards and 2 TDs so I like him a lot this week. RB Rashad Amos is basically the other half of this offense. He has produced 10+ FD points in 5 of his last 6 games and back to back 20+ point games with Aveon Smith at QB so expect him to be very active once again. With around 15 or less passing attempts expected for the Miami offense this week, do not expect much production from these Miami pass catchers aside from a big play. For Buffalo, this offense just is not that good. QB Cole Synder will not score more than 15 FD points and is losing work to running QB CJ Ogbonna who could be a sneaky good play if Buffalo can find their way to the goal line multiple times, but he has no absolutely no floor. The only Buffalo player who can be relied on with any confidence is RB Ron Cook Jr. Cook is the lead back and has been claiming more work in the time share as the season goes on. He does lack explosion so I am not overly excited to play him against a tougher Miami run defense who has kept all the top RBs in the conference well under 100 yards so it best to look elsewhere this week. The Buffalo pass catchers are basically a grab bag at this point. Darrell Harding Jr. is the deep threat so if he connects a shot he will be a great play. Marlyn Johnson is the short yardage guy and will likely lead the team in targets and catches but will likely not be very productive in the yardage department. Boobie Curry is the most versatile WR as he is targeted all over the field so he seems to have the strongest combination of a floor and ceiling. With Buffalo featuring a strong defense and weak offense, this will likely be a low scoring game so I prefer the other game for fantasy purposes, but there are some solid plays like Aveon Smith in this one.
