Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 12 (Tues)

Quarterbacks

Play of the Day: Jeff Undercuffler Jr., Akron (@ Eastern Michigan)

I have to be honest, I am not in love with any of the QBs on this slate, but Undercuffler could deliver insane value if he can put together a strong game like he did two weeks ago. He is locked in as the main QB for the team following DJ Irons' injury and has been fairly productive. Undercuffler is averaging 229 passing yards in his 3 games as a starter. His lack of pocket awareness has hurt his production since he takes a lot of sacks, but Eastern Michigan struggles to get to the QB so that will not be a big concern this week. Undercuffler should be solid if not great this week against a poor Eastern Michigan defense in a game Akron can very easily win.

Dequan Finn, Toledo (@ Bowling Green)

You cannot look at this slate without overlooking Finn. He is the only proven producer on this slate and is coming off of a monster 4 TD game. His price and matchup do scare me though. Bowling Green is one of the best defenses he will face in the MAC and Finn has struggled against other good defenses like Buffalo. If you want a good floor play, I do not blame you for putting Finn in your lineup, but I want to pay up elsewhere so I will be limiting my exposure to Finn this week.

Hayden Wolff, Western Michigan (@ Northern Illinois)

Wolff is likely the safest value on this slate as he has produced double digit FD points in each of his last 5 games. He has a TD in all of those games and passed for 250+ yards in 3 of those 5 games. He is also a decent rushing QB and plays a Northern Illinois defense that cannot keep track of QBs in the running game. I like Wolff's chances of scoring more than 15+ so if you want a safe QB at a decent price, then Wolff is your guy.

Running Backs

Play of the Day: Peny Boone, Toledo (@ Bowling Green)

How do you not play Boone right now? He has scored 15+ FD points in 7 of his last 9 games...that is QB production so to be able to lock that kind of production into your RB slot is a huge boon. Bowling Green is a solid defense, but that should only make Toledo more reliant on the consistency that Boone provides.

Jalen Buckley, Western Michigan (@ Northern Illinois)

Buckley is the only other RB on this slate who will provide any kind of reliability who is not dealing with injury questions. He's had 25+ opportunities in back to back games and will be heavily relied on again as they play a Northern Illinois defense who is very beatable on the ground. Spending up for the top backs makes a lot of sense with so much inconsistency at other positions.

Terion Stewart & Ta'Ron Keith, Bowling Green (vs Toledo)

There are big injury concerns here and with a MAC team like Bowling Green, there will likely be no firm reporting on the availability of these two. If Stewart plays, he is a phenomenal value since he is a bit discounted. If Keith is the only available back then is a slate breaker because he will not only handle his usual receiving work, but he will also be highly involved as runner. Toledo does look a bit tough since they will likely be playing with the lead for the majority of the game, but they are very beatable on the ground. Toledo has allowed 7 RBs to score 10+ FD points in their last 8 games with some monster games in there so I like whoever is the lead back a lot this week.

Samson Evans, Eastern Michigan (vs Akron)

The redzone work is too good to pass up. He has some kind of score in 6 straight games and if Eastern Michigan is able to find their way to Akron's goal line multiple times then Evans will end up with multiple TDs. His floor is disastrous since he does not get a lot of yardage.

Wide Receivers

Play of the Day: Jasaiah Gathings & Daniel George, Akron (@ Eastern Michigan)

With Undercuffler injecting more juice into this Akron passing attack, both of these guys have become fantasy relevant. Both of them have double digit targets in 2 of their last 3 games which has led to 10+ FD points in those games. I lean Gathings over George as he has seen the field more over the past 2 weeks and has shown an advanced chemistry with Undercuffler, but both could be good plays.

Trayvon Rudolph & Grayson Barnes, Northern Illinois (vs Western Michigan)

It is a shame that Rudolph's price has jumped up so high following a string of strong games, but it is warranted since he is the most talented WR on the slate. He is involved as both a pass catcher and a runner so no matter how a game goes, Rudolph will be involved. Barnes is appealing with his redzone work alone as he has 3 TDs in his last 4 games, but also functions as the WR2 in this offense so he should get a fair amount of usage away from the redzone. I expect Western Michigan to win this game so Northern Illinois should be passing a fair amount leading to solid usage.

Kenneth Womack, Western Michigan (@ Northern Illinois)

Womack may not be a deep ball threat, but his usage is too appealing to pass up. No other WR comes anywhere close to his level of usage with 10+ catches in 3 of his last 5 games, while that level of work has not necessarily led to elite production as he rarely averages more than 10 yards per catch in a game. There simply is no other WR on this slate who can come anywhere close to the floor that Womack provides which essentially makes him a must play.

Tanner Knue, Eastern Michigan (vs Akron)

Knue gets a lot of work. He may not turn that into a lot of consistent production, but he is the clear cut WR1 on this team. His QB Austin Smith is an issue as he has only passed for more than 200 yards once against a FBS team this year which continues to limit Knue's upside. Obviously if Knue can find the endzone, he will deliver terrific value, but Smith is just holding Knue back at this point. Knue's usage is great enough to keep Knue fantasy relevant, but he could easily leave you disappointed.

Harold Fannin Jr., Bowling Green (vs Toledo)

This play is entirely predicated on the availability of Stewart and Keith. Fannin has been great recently providing 92 receiving yards in back to back games while also being involved as runner. This production does have a lot to do with some easier matchups and the RB injuries. If both of Bowling Green's RBs remain out then Fannin will once again be a great play, but if they have some kind of a reliable running game, Fannin will likely disappoint you.
