Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 10 (Thurs)
Quarterbacks
Play of the Day: Gunnar Watson, Troy (vs South Alabama)
Watson is just too cheap. He has 225+ passing yards and a TD in 6 straight games. That alone is enough to deliver solid value at a price of just $8,200 but his ceiling is much higher than that. The Troy offense has been solid so they should have another solid game led by Watson so get him in your lineups.
Riley Leonard, Duke (vs Wake Forest)
Leonard's production has been lacking in recent weeks, but this is the week he turns it around. The Wake Forest secondary is very beatable allowing 300+ passing yards in 3 straight games. Leonard has already had success against this Wake Forest team torching them for 391 passing yards and 4 TDs in 2022. His injury concerns do worry me a bit, but he should be able to beat this Wake Forest team with one foot so he seems like a safe choice this week especially at just $9,000.
Carter Bradley, South Alabama (@ Troy)
Bradley is coming in with a lingering injury which is a bit worrying, but if he plays, he has a solid floor DFS players can rely on. Bradley has scored at least 14 FD points in 5 straight games which should be enough to cash at just $8,500 if the rest of your lineup performs well. He does lack the upside to be a true difference maker and win you a tournament though so he does have his limitations.
Running Backs
Play of the Day: Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech (vs TCU)
In a slate full of talented RBs, Brooks stands out. He has at least 100 total yards in 6 straight games and has scored 5 TDs over his last 4 games. He has been as hot as any RB in the nation besides Ollie Gordon which has resulted in Brooks scoring at least 16 points in 5 straight games. He does not have the TD upside that La'Damian Webb but the rest of his game is as good as any RB slate.
La'Damian Webb, South Alabama (@ Troy)
Speaking of Webb, he is a good play regardless of opponent or price. Webb has scored a TD in 7 straight games and scored multiple TDs in 4 of those games so his upside is immense. I am worried about his yardage total and usage a bit. I expect Troy to cruise in this one so Webb's usage may be limited and he has only recorded more than 100 rushing yards in 3 games. But Webb has 15 TDs in his last 7 games so he is just too good to fade, but Troy has only allowed 1 rushing TD to opposing RBs in FBS games this year so this may be Webb's riskiest matchup of the year.
Kimani Vidal, Troy (vs South Alabama)
Vidal is the lead back for a Troy team that has scored at least 27 points in 4 of his last 5 games so there is plenty of fantasy potential here for Vidal. He is averaging 24 carries per game over his last 5 games so his usage is unquestioned. I expect Troy to score at least 30 points so Vidal should end up with a solid line in the process.
Emani Bailey, TCU (@ Texas Tech)
Bailey is a great value on this limited slate. He has 5 games with at least 100 rushing yards this year, and with QB Chandler Morris injured, Bailey will be the top option for this TCU offense. Bailey also has some pass catching ability with a catch in 7 straight games which helps bump up his score a couple points. Texas Tech has allowed their opponent's lead back to score at least 8.5 FD points in 4 of their last 5 games. With a slate that is very top heavy at RB, Bailey is a great way to get different with the possibility for solid value.
Wide Receivers
Play of the Day: Caullin Lacy, South Alabama (@ Troy)
There just is no receiver on the slate that comes anywhere close to Lacy. Lacy has 100+ yards in 5+ catches in 7 straight games so his floor is simply unbeatable, but if this game turns out like I think it will with Troy easily winning, this will be a ceiling game for Lacy. He will be passed to early and often as South Alabama tries to move the ball against this Troy defense who is tough against the run but fairly vulnerable through the air. Teammate Jamaal Pritchett may seem like a serviceable replacement for Lacy's production since he is coming of a 2 TD game and back to back 100 yard games but do not be fooled by his hot streak as he has only scored more than 10 FD points one other time outside of this 2 week period. Lacy is simply unrivaled on this slate and you need to pay up for him.
Jabre Barber & Chris Lewis, Troy (vs South Alabama)
Barber is nearly a must play for me in this one. He is the only other receiver besides Lacy that is locked into 10 targets so his usage is elite. He has converted that usage into production too, with three 100 yard games in his last 4 games. He does not have the floor or the ceiling that Lacy does but his floor is the only other one that is reliable at all. Chris Lewis may not be the alpha in this receiver room, but he is still very productive. In every game he has caught a pass he has recorded at least 50 yards, but I did phrase it that way for a reason because he also has 2 goose eggs on his record so he is no guarantee.
Jordan Moore & Jalon Calhoun, Duke (vs Wake Forest)
This Duke passing game has been a mess in recent weeks because of all the uncertainty at the QB position because of the injuries they have been dealing with. If the Duke passing game does get back on track against this weak Wake Forest secondary, it will be through these guys. Moore is the stronger floor play with 50+ yards in over half his games, but Calhoun is the high upside play because of his big play ability. The lackluster QB play does make this a bit risky but I think things get back on track this week.
Jahmal Banks, Wake Forest (@ Duke)
Banks is the only Wake Forest player worth playing against this tough Duke defense because his usage is elite so he cannot be ignored. He has at least 9 targets in 6 of his last 7 games and the one game he missed that mark he still led Wake Forest in receiving yards. Banks does have a very strong ceiling but expect more of a floor game from Banks since this Duke D is tough but that should still be about 10 points.
