Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 10 (Fri)
Boston College vs Syracuse
I do not know how you build a lineup without Thomas Castellanos. Yes he is expensive, but his production is elite. He is a phenomenal rushing QB averaging 84 rushing yards per game and more than a rushing TD per game. That is a 15 point baseline so add in his passing and he has a floor and ceiling that no one else can compete with especially against a Syracuse team who has allowed 3 rushing TDs to opposing QBs in their last 3 games. Boston College's RB Kye Robichaux is a great play as long as backfield mate Pat Garwo remains out. In the games that Garwo has missed, Robichaux has scored at least 23 points and has averaged 29.6 FD points during that span so his upside is immense. WR Lewis Bond is the only Boston college receiver you can start with any confidence. He has at least 70 receiving yards in 4 of his last 6 games, but I do expect Boston College to win this game and lean on their running game so Bond's upside is limited. WR Joseph Griffin Jr. is a decent dart throw because he is involved in this BC offense and is a fairly explosive player, but he could leave you very disappointed. For Syracuse, I do not like most of their options. The Syracuse offense has been BAD. They have gotten blown out and held to 2 scores or less in 4 straight games with the majority of those scores coming in garbage time with the backups in so there is really no consistency to rely on in the Syracuse offense. RB LeQuint Allen is the safest option on the team since he is the feature back and is involved as both a runner and a receiver and the Boston College run defense is fairly weak allowing their opponent's opposing RB to score 13+ FD points in back to back games. QB Garrett Shrader always has some upside because of his top end athleticism and rushing ability, but he has not passed for more than 200 passing yards in 4 straight games and has been getting sacked a lot lately resulting in back to back games with negative rushing yards. With Shrader lacking any kind of a reliable floor, he is a complete fade for me, but if he does have a monster rushing game he could be a tournament winner because his exposure will be low. With Syracuse's complete inability to pass block, all the receivers are fades because they will not be able to get the ball in their hands. If you do feel like you need a Syracuse receiver in your lineup, Damien Alford is your guy as he has big play ability and will not need too much work to produce a strong fantasy line.
Colorado State vs Wyoming
Wyoming has struggled in recent weeks, but they were taking on the conference's top teams. This week is a different story as they play Colorado State who is very beatable. Wyoming will get back on track this week and they will do it on the backs of their running game. The weather is going to be cold and windy so expect a lot of running in this game well at least for Wyoming. QB Andrew Peasley and RB Harrison Waylee are both must plays. CSU has allowed opposing RBs to score at least 12.5 FD points in 4 straight weeks including allowing 3 of those backs to score 19 or more points in that same span. CSU simply has no answer for their opponent's running game so expect big rushing yards totals for Wyoming this week. Wyoming WRs will likely not have a heavy workload this week with the inclement weather and CSU's vulnerabilities. If you needed to choose one, I like TE Treyton Welch. He has at least 3 catches in 5 straight games and is a big redzone target so he has a decent floor and solid upside for someone priced $6,100. On the CSU side of things, things are a bit harder to forecast. I know for sure I want no part of this CSU rushing attack. Wyoming is a solid run defense and CSU has not been able to run the ball with any efficiency regardless of their opponent, so fade Vann Schield & Co this week. The CSU passing game is intriguing though. The CSU passing game is fairly potent as they usually pass for more than 250 yards, but the inclement weather is a bit of a concern here. QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi will rack up a lot of yards, but he does not have the best pocket presence leading to a lot of sacks and he does not run at all so he will need a bunch of TDs to be worth your time. It is the CSU receivers who are the actual difference makers in this offense. I like TE Dallin Holker the most out of the group. He is utilized all over the field including a lot of work in the screen game and close to the line of scrimmage so the inclement weather should not hurt his production too much. WR Tory Horton has been dealing with a lingering injury, but if he suits up he has a decent floor and an elite ceiling so he is worth your consideration, but I think he gets hurt the most if there really is a windstorm. With how much CSU likes to pass, there will be plenty of value to be utilized from the CSU receivers so any other CSU receiver who gets any kind of regular work is a decent dart throw.
