Syracuse vs Virginia Tech

The approach in this matchup seems fairly obvious to me. Both of these teams' defenses have one glaring hole. For Syracuse it is their secondary. They have allowed 6 receivers to rack up 100+ yards in their last 5 games. They simply cannot stop anyone so this Virginia Tech passing attack should be able to move the ball with ease. Whether the QB is Kyron Drones or Grant Wells, you can play them with confidence. Syracuse has allowed their opponent's QB to pass for 250+ passing and score multiple TDs in 4 of their last 5 games so expect a solid day from the Hokie's signal caller. WR Jaylin Lane is the most likely Virginia Tech WR to continue Syracuse's 100+ receiving yards allowed streak. He is a big play machine so he does not need a lot of targets to deliver value and rack up a lot of yards. Other top options in the Virginia Tech passing game like WRs Da'Quan Felton and Stephen Gosnell also make fantastic fantasy options since one WR will always be running free for the Hokies. RB Bhayshul Tuten is also heavily involved in the passing game catching at least 4 passes in 4 straight games so he provides a solid floor when paired with his 10 carries but he is not the most efficient runner between the tackles. For Virginia Tech, their biggest weakness on defense is their run defense. Before last week's game against Wake Forest, the Hokie defensive front had allowed 8 RBs to score double digits across their first 6 games. A weak run defense is a dream matchup for Syracuse. They love to run the ball so expect a very heavy dose of the Orange running game this week. The Syracuse rushing attack only goes through QB Garrett Shrader and RB LeQuint Allen so both are excellent plays this week. The Syracuse passing attack cannot be relied on for fantasy purposes since they have only had more than 200 passing yards three times all season. If there is one WR you want to roll the dice then Umari Hatcher is your guy. He is locked into a fairly consistent role, but even as the top receiver in the offense, he has only topped 100 yards once this year.

Georgia State vs Georgia Southern

This game is harder to project than the other game as neither of these teams have any glaring weaknesses. There is one definite must play in this game based on usage alone. Georgia State RB Marcus Carroll is THE guy in the backfield. All other Georgia State RBs have a total of 2 carries in conference play this year. You can guarantee Marcus Carroll will have 30 opportunities regardless of what happens in this game. He is the most used skill player in all of college football providing a floor of about 15 FD points. He is the kind of guy you need in your lineup because you know he will be busy and productive. The rest of this offense is competently run through QB Darren Grainger. He is not an amazing player but can be dynamic with a FD point range of 6.22-38.94 on the year. I would expect a point total close to 20 in this one so I am not chomping at the bit to throw him into my lineup with a price tag of $11K. WR Tailique Williams is the team's best fantasy receiver since he has a fairly consistent role compiling 80+ yards in 3 of his last 5 games, but no one in the Georgia State passing attack has been solid enough to expect any kind of a safe floor from them. Georgia Southern has two dynamic receivers who can be relied on for fantasy purposes. WR Khaleb Hood is the gadget guy in this offense who they love to get the ball in space. Hood has at least 7 catches and 60+ receiving yards in 6 straight games giving him the highest floor out of any receiver on the slate. WR Derwin Burgess Jr. is more of a traditional receiver with most of his production coming down the field. He has maxed out at 8 catches in a game this year but he makes the most out of his work with 4 games over 70 receiving yards. His floor is nowhere near Hood's but he does have decent upside. The Georgia Southern backfield is a near even split between Jalen White and OJ Arnold, but it is Jalen White who is the more productive and valuable player so he is the only one who warrants consideration. QB Davis Brin is a decent fantasy option, but he does not have the upside or value of some of the other QBs on this slate so only use him if you are trying to get off of the chalk.
