Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 7 (Tues)

Quarterbacks

Play of the Day: Kaidon Salter, Liberty (@ Jacksonville State)

This Liberty offense has been humming, scoring 30+ in every game except one and Slater is the catalyst that has pushed this offense to the next level. He is great as both a passer and a runner; averaging 235 passing yards while scoring 6 times on the ground. He is a proven producer and is the player with the highest ceiling and floor on this slate making him a must play if you ask me. The Jacksonville State defense has looked fairly weak over the past couple weeks. They allowed Sam Houston's Keegan Shoemaker and MTSU's Nicholas Vattiato to have career days over the past two weeks so a QB of Salter's is going to have a huge day.

Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina (@ App St)

McCall is the best QB in the Conference USA, but he has gotten a little bit unlucky with his touchdown production. He only has one game with 2 passing TDs, a stat that is likely to quickly change as he had multiple TDs in all but two of his games a year ago. He gets a great matchup against App St and almost every App St game turns into a shootout. This game has the highest O/U on the slate so there should be plenty of points for McCall to claim. Add in the fact that he is a plus athlete increasing his odds of a rushing TD. McCall is a great play this week especially at $9,500.

Joey Aguilar & Ryan Burger, Appalachian State (vs Coastal Carolina)

The lack of real information surrounding the App St QB situation is really hurting the fantasy potential here. If news comes out that Burger will for sure be back and starting, he is the best play on the slate because a starting QB at $5,000 needs to be rostered. If Burger is confirmed out, Aguilar makes for a great play. He has been fantastic since taking over the position, hitting the 200 yards mark in every game and throwing for multiple TDs in 3 of 4. He also can chip in a chunk of rushing yards to bump up his score a couple points. The haziness surrounding this situation makes these plays very risky; but if info comes out before kickoff, get one of these guys in your lineup.

Running Backs

Play of the Day: Nate Noel, Appalachian State (vs Coastal Carolina)

Given that high scoring nature of a typical App St game, there is plenty of fantasy potential to be utilized in fantasy lineups. The problem is that they like to spread out the ball a lot, at least at the receiver position with at least 7 different receivers making catches in each game so projecting fantasy production is more guesswork than anything. Their running game is the complete opposite. They do some QB runs and the rest goes to Nate Noel. He has 24+ carries in every game but one and multiple targets in each contest. He is the most involved guy in any game he plays so in a high scoring game, he is a must play.

Tyre Shelton, Louisiana Tech (@ MTSU)

Shelton has been a beast this year. In his three conference games, he has 100 + yards and at least 1 TD. He has been the main guy in the backfield when healthy. Middle Tennessee has shown a strong run defense this year, but Shelton is a tough runner so he should be able to find some success, but his ceiling may be a little limited this week.

Quinton Cooley, Liberty (@ Jacksonville State)

Cooley has been dynamic this year. He has been able to find a bunch of green grass on a consistent basis breaking off chunk play after chunk play. He has 100 yard games despite only having one game with 20 carries. He works off Slater beautifully as he always gets to attack a box with one less defender. He did get a bit banged up last week so there is a chance he sits this week, so if you are planning on playing him make sure you confirm his pregame availability.

Frank Peasant, Middle Tennessee (@ Louisiana Tech)

If there is one week to play Peasant this is it. He is not the best of runners as he only takes what is available and never fights for the extra yard. But there will be plenty available for him this week in a matchup against a nonexistent Louisiana Tech run defense. LT is allowing a whopping 212 yards on the ground this season (5th worst in the nation) so even a running back of Peasant's talents should have a good day. I like his chances of topping 100 yards and finding the endzone.

Wide Receivers

Play of the Day: Smoke Harris, Louisiana Tech (vs MTSU)

Smoke Harris is the best receiver in the conference not named Malachi Corley. Anytime he is on the slate you need to give him your attention. He is a menace in open space as he is able to capitalize on the slightest bit of daylight. Louisiana Tech loves this guy so he is locked into a major role on this offense that includes double digit targets and a run or two every game which will translate to major production against a prolifically weak MTSU secondary. At any given time Smoke Harris is the best athlete of the field so he can be a slate breaker thanks to his multi TD potential.

Sam Pinckney, Jared Brown & Tyson Mobley; Coastal Carolina (@ App St)

This Coastal Carolina passing attack is going to have a game this week and that is a great thing for fantasy players. Their passing attack is fairly consolidated with the vast majority of the targets going to these 3. Pinckney is the leader of this group, he is the best true receiver with great route running. He should be the target leader in any given week leading to a decent yardage total each week. Jared Brown is the home run threat on this team. Brown is constantly being drawn up plays and will have at least one chance at a long TD every week. Mobley is the safest play out of all the cheap receivers on this slate since he has a fairly sizable role in this offense getting 4-5 targets each game.

CJ Daniels, Liberty (@ Jacksonville State)

CJ Daniels is the best receiver on this Liberty team. He is a solid deep threat and Salter always seems to know when he is open. He has 3 games with 100+ plus and a TD this year, but has less than 20 yards in the other two. He is a bit of a boom or a bust player, but if it is a boom week he can score as many points as any receiver on this slate.

Parry Carter, Jacksonville State (vs Liberty)

Perry Carter has established himself as the bonafide WR1 for this team. He is always open and can run every route well. He only started to be featured in this offense over the past couple weeks and it has led to splendid results with the speedster averaging around 15 FD points over those games. The only issue with Carter is the lack of consistency in this Jacksonville State passing attack. They have only passed for more than 200 yards once this season and have two games under 100 passing yards. If this Jacksonville State offense has a good game passing the ball, Carter will be a great play.
