Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 10 (Tues)

Northern Illinois vs Central Michigan

In what is a bit of a rough matchup for fantasy purposes, we get a clash of two middling offenses. The Northern Illinois offense is fairly easy to predict with most of their production coming on the ground or through receiver Trayvon Rudolph. At just $6,500, Rudolph is one of the best values on the slate. He is the top target for the team and also gets some rushing work to bump up his score. He is a must play at this price. The Huskie running game will be busy as well. Antario Brown has been the lead back all year long, but Gavin Williams has been cutting into his workload and has been productive. Williams has outscored Brown in each of the last two weeks so this backfield is a bit of a mess to predict. I think Brown will most likely have the better day out of the two; but since he is stuck in a timeshare, he is too expensive to play with confidence. NIU QB Rocky Lombardi does not inspire much confidence since he is lucky if he scores more than 15 pts; but with a weak QB group, he is a decent play. The Central Michigan production is a bit harder to predict. QB Jase Bauer has elite potential thanks to his athleticism and rushing ability which produced a 4 rushing TD game earlier this season. Bauer was great in this game last year, rushing for 109 yards and 2 rushing TDs in limited action. Bauer is not a great passer, but his rushing upside makes him a must play. RB Marion Lukes has a ton of upside as well. He is not a great rusher having failed to rush for more than 60 yards in a game, but he is a great pass catcher out of the backfield. He has 5 or more catches in 2 of his last 3 games propping up his baseline. The CMU receiver usage is all over the place. Only one receiver has had more than 50 receiving yards in conference play this year. Jesse Prewitt III and Tyson Davis are the two receivers who will get the most work. Prewitt is too expensive given his lack of a real floor so I like Tyson Davis the most out of this receiver group especially since he led the team in targets last week. WR Chris Parker could also end up being a decent play as he has led the team in targets a couple of times; but overall, these CMU receivers are a bit of a gamble.

Buffalo vs Toledo

Make sure you are riding Toledo in this one. Toledo is by far the most talented offense on this slate so there are a lot of fantasy points to be reaped from this offense. QB Dequan Finn is a must play. He is a decent producer with his arm, but he is an elite producer with his legs. He has at least 3 TDs in 3 of his last 4 games so he will not leave you disappointed. RB Peny Boone is also a great rusher and benefits from a lighter box with Finn in the game which led to a 5 game streak of 100+ rushing yards but it was snapped last week. Boone is a near lock for 15+ pts so he is almost as appealing as Finn. The Toledo receivers are not nearly as consistent as their running game because of the run-heavy nature of the offense. Jerjuan Newton is the obvious top target for this team but that has not translated into a ton of production as he has topped 60 yards just once all year. This slate is light on consistent receivers though so paying up for Newton may be worth it to avoid being left with a zero. Junior Vandeross III is the only other high usage receiver on this team, but he typically is not used near the redzone so his yardage alone is the source of his fantasy viability which is a risky endeavor. There is only one guy on the Buffalo offense that I am truly interested in. RB Ron Cook Jr. looks like a must play to me. Toledo is fairly vulnerable to RBs allowing an opposing RB to rush for more than 150 yards in three straight weeks from weeks 5-7. Cook is also an active pass catcher out of the backfield cementing his position as the top fantasy option on the Buffalo offense. WR Darrell Harding Jr. is also a decent value as the only Buffalo receiver with multiple 50+ yard games. The rest of the Buffalo offense is a fade for me. QB Cole Snyder has not scored more than 12 FD points in 5 straight games and the Toledo defense is decent.
