Slate Breaker: FD CFB DFS Week 4 (Sat)

Quarterbacks

Play of the Day: Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (@ Oregon)

I love this Colorado offense against Oregon. Oregon will score a lot of points and probably win this game, but they like to spread the ball around a lot so featuring the Oregon side of this game is hard. Colorado on the other side is the exact opposite, their offensive production is going through Sanders, Weaver, Edwards and Horn. At this point it is a lock that Sanders will pass for 350+ and multiple TDs establishing a very solid baseline. But the upside is also there in this game, Oregon scores a lot and they score fast; Colorado has also shown the ability to do the same but not quite at the same level as Oregon. The last shootout that Colorado got in ended with Sanders having 510 yards and 4 TDs so get ready for another big line in this one.

Bo Nix, Oregon (vs Oregon)

For all the reasons I like Sanders, I like Nix. While his lack of running to start the season has been a big disappointment for fantasy owners; Nix has been great as a passer to start the season, passing for multiple TDs in every game to start the year. Colorado has given up juicy stat lines to 2 lackluster QBs already this year so a top end fantasy QB like Nix should shred this defense apart. This could also be the game that Nix finally gets his run game going with the Buffs having allowed 2 rushing TDs to QBs this year. Nix is a very safe pick even at his sky high price.

Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma (@ Cincinnati)

Gabriel is an established commodity at this point. He has at least 3 scores in every game and has been pushing this Oklahoma offense to its highest peak in the past 5 years. Oklahoma wants to do one thing and one thing only, pass. Any situation this offense finds itself in will likely result in a pass even in a blow out game. This new offensive philosophy has resulted in great fantasy results for Gabriel and although Cincinnati provides the toughest challenge for Gabriel yet, his high usage and scoring prowess makes him a safe play.

Jordan Travis, Florida State (@ Clemson)

Besides the LSU game, it has not been a great start to the season for Travis so he is available at a bit of a discount here against Clemson. This a recipe for success for daily fantasy players, with Travis usually showing out in these big games. Travis's best games have come against teams like LSU, Florida, Oklahoma; and in this same matchup a year ago, Travis also had a great fantasy day eclipsing the elite 30 point threshold. In a competitive game at a relative discount, Travis is a great play.

Jalon Daniels, Kansas (vs BYU)

Daniels has not put together the kind of massive stat lines that allowed him to rise to national prominence a year ago because Devin Neal is too busy putting up video game numbers. But one of these days those monster games will return for the Kansas QB and at any price under 10K, he can single handedly win you a fantasy contest with the fantasy upside he possesses. He is not a great floor play, but he is worth the price as long as his price remains under 10k.

Timmy McClain, UCF (@ Kansas State)

The UCF offense has been high powered and potent since Gus Malzahn took over; so even with a backup like McClain taking over the offense, McClain and UCF should still be productive. McClain is not nearly the playmaker John Rhys Plumlee is, but this will still be a fast paced, no huddle offense that should be able to move the ball so there is a solid baseline of production available to McClain. Add in the fact that KSU just got torched by Brady Cook, and McClain is a great play a tremendous bargain but I do not think he ceiling tops 30 points so he cannot carry your lineup on his own and will need to be surrounded by solid picks in order for you to cash.

Running Backs

Play of the Day: RJ Harvey, UCF (@ Kansas State)

Harvey has been the top skill player on this UCF offense. He has topped 100 yards in every game and also shown a proclivity to find the end zone scoring 5 times through 3 games. Most of this production came with John Rhys Plumlee in the lineup so with Plumlee out for a couple weeks, Harvey looks primed to become the focal point of this offense which will result in a strong fantasy day against this KSU defense.

Jarquez Hunter, Auburn (@ Texas A&M)

I am going out on a limb with this one, but it is only a matter of time until Hunter bursts onto the scene with a huge day. I like Texas A&M to be that blow up spot for Hunter, with Hunter and his former backfield mate Tank Bigsby both rushing for 121 rushing yards a piece in this matchup a year ago. Hunter has only had 11 carries in each of his two games this year, but with Auburn's inability to establish any sort of a passing game it is only a matter of time until the team starts utilizing their RBs far more. This is without a doubt a risky play but at $5,900, if Hunter goes off; he will be a building block of a tournament winning lineup.

Devin Neal, Kansas (vs BYU)

Neal has been an absolute monster to start the year. He is picking up chunk play after chunk play with 119 total yards being his worst game of the year. It has been his utilization at the goal line that has made him a real fantasy monster with the bruising back having already scored 6 times in just 3 games. Neal is super expensive, but he is too hot to be faded right now.

Will Shipley, Clemson (vs Florida State)

After Clemson's Week 1 loss, Shipley has taken a bit of a backseat in this Clemson offense, but that is primarily due to the blowouts Clemsons has been playing in. This week, Clemson and Shipley get a real challenge in FSU. A competitive hard fought game should lead to a sharp increase in usage for Shipley and if Clemson is playing from behind in this game, Shipley's receiving ability will make him as good of a play as any back on this slate. With Clemson trailing Duke in Week 1, Shipley had 6 catches on 9 targets and added a receiving TD. A solid receiving line paired with Shipley's elite rushing ability makes him a smash play.

Dylan Edwards, Colorado (@ Oregon)

Edwards is the lead back for Colorado in this inevitable shootout, give me all of that. Edwards has struggled to find the endzone since his Week 1 blow up, but he is a reliable receiver. Edwards has 5+ targets in every game this season and more importantly he has taken over this backfield's rushing too, leading the team in carries in each of their last two games. I am bold on this game and I think there is a chance both teams push for 600+ yards in total offense so getting a feature back on an offense that will be putting up crazy yardage totals is a great play and just he is $6,600. Smash!

Wide Receivers

Play of the Day: Xavier Weaver & Jimmy Horn Jr., Colorado (@ Oregon)

In case you have not been able to tell at this point, I love the Buffs this week. And with Travis Hunter out, Weaver and Horn will be very busy and they can handle the work with both recording at least 6 catches in every game and 60+ yards. The Buffs do not rotate a lot on offense so with how many points will be up for grabs in this offense, both Horn and Weaver are going to post respectable lines. I also like Tar'Varish Dawson as he will be the player that absorbs most of Hunter's offensive work and he is very affordable at $5,400. Go Buffs, win us some money this weekend.

Xzavier Henderson, Cincinnati (vs Oklahoma)

Henderson has shown great chemistry with Emory Jones that has carried over from their time together at Florida. Besides a tough matchup against Pitt, Hutchinson has been an offensive juggernaut recording at least 7 catches and 140+ yards. Oklahoma will likely win this game, so Cincinnati should play the majority of this game in catch up mode which should lead to a fruitful day Henderson as he looks to continue to establish himself as Cincinnati's top offensive weapon.

Troy Franklin, Oregon (vs Colorado)

The Oregon offense is hard to predict as just about any skill player can score a TD in any given game, but Franklin does have the most reliable role in this offense. He is the clearcut WR1 and gets a bevy of short and downfield targets. Franklin is not a one trick pony and should be utilized in a multitude of ways especially against a Buffalo defense that has struggled to keep up with opposing WRs. This Buffs secondary is in shambles right now allowing 3 CSU pass catchers to top 100 yards a week ago. Franklin has not even had the ability to play a full game yet so in what should be a very competitive game, Franklin is in line for a career day.

Beaux Collins & Antonio Williams, Clemson (vs Florida State)

It is only a matter of time until things start to click for Cade Klubnik and when that happens Collins and Williams will be great plays. Will it be this week? I dunno. But if you are feeling spicy and need a cheaper receiver to help balance out other expensive players, Collins and Williams are worth a flier. I think Williams is a better option than Collins since he is a better route runner and finds himself wide open far more often but both have potential for a great day.

Cade Stover, Ohio State (@ Notre Dame)

Obviously Marvin Harris and Emeka Egbuka are and will always be solid plays, but it is Stover who seems to be breaking out on this offense. OSU has never heavily utilized their Tight Ends, but McCord has shown a proclivity to look Stover's way. The OSU TE has two games over 90 yards and while he has not been utilized in the redzone yet, with his big frame it is only a matter of time until Stover starts converting on redzone looks. With solid receiving usage and a decent chance to score, Stover is a good play if you want a piece of this potent OSU offense at a discount.

Holden Staes, Notre Dame (vs Ohio State)

If you are looking for a floor play, then Staes is not your guy. He is a TD or bust play. But if you are willing to roll the dice on Staes then you are in luck. Staes has looked like the first read on the majority of the redzone passes showing that Notre Dame and Sam Hartman have faith in him. With Notre Dame likely playing from behind, there is a chance that Staes is utilized between the 20s which would lead to a very nice fantasy day but I would not count on that. At $5,500, Staes ability to score TDs make him a valid high risk, high reward play.
